On Thursday, August 30th, 2018, Brother’s Brother Foundation will be sending a container of medical supplies as well as operating tables, birthing tables, stretchers and other life-saving medical equipment to San Carlos Borromeo Hospital in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Thus far, BBF has sent nearly 90 container-loads of relief to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria in the fall of 2017. These containers have been made up of – among other things – food, water, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and 1.2 million pounds of medical supplies. These were ultimately distributed to over twenty hospitals.
The container will be loaded and sent at 9am.
BBF, a 60-year old Pittsburgh-based international charity, has provided over 105,400 tons of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 149 countries. With the help of gifts from the general public, corporations and foundations, in 2017 BBF sent product contributions to those in need in 58 countries. These shipments were the equivalent of 113 tractor trailer loads. In 2017, BBF also provided medicine and supplies for 343 hand-carry mission trips.
Forbes Magazine highlighted BBF with a 100% rating for both fundraising efficiency and charitable commitment of the 50 largest charities reviewed in 2017. The Better Business Bureau continues to give BBF its “Wise Giving Alliance Standards” seal of approval.
