BBF Responds to Hurricane Michael

Brother’s Brother Foundation is responding to Hurricane Michael. Working with partners including Gleaning For The World, BBF’s response to Hurricane Michael is underway. Two truck-loads of relief supplies are awaiting destination instructions as the damage is assessed. Logistical support has been offered to responding food banks. Hurricane Michael made landfall at 1:30pm EST yesterday, October 10th as a Category 4 Hurricane. Michael is currently crossing areas severely impacted by Hurricane Florence just weeks ago, where rivers are continuing to exceed their flood stages and much of the ground is saturated.

Individuals in Brother’s Brothers markets who wish to donate in kind supplies can do so at their offices. Only hygiene supplies are being collected at this time. Please place items in 5-gallon buckets with lids. If you wish to start a collection of items, please reach out to BBF for details and assistance.

Hygiene buckets will be accepted until Thanksgiving.

BBF, a 60-year old Pittsburgh-based international charity, has provided over 105,400 tons of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 149 countries. With the help of gifts from the general public, corporations and foundations, in 2017 BBF sent product contributions to those in need in 58 countries. These shipments were the equivalent of 113 tractor trailer loads. In 2017 BBF also provided medicine and supplies for 343 hand-carry mission trips.

Forbes Magazine highlighted BBF with a 100% rating for both fundraising efficiency and charitable commitment of the 50 largest charities reviewed in 2017. The Better Business Bureau continues to give BBF its “Wise Giving Alliance Standards” seal of approval.
