February 16, 2010

Brother's Brother Foundation (BBF) is responding with partner agencies Food For The Poor of Miami, Medical Benevolence Foundation of Houston and Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010.

To date BBF has made four air shipments and eight tractor trailer (ocean-going container) shipments of pharmaceuticals and relief supplies. The ninth tractor trailer will load on Tuesday, February 16 th at 10:00 am with pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. A tenth shipment of requested hygiene supplies is scheduled to load at 11:00 am on Tuesday . Four container-loads of baby food donated by Bay Valley Foods will leave the Pittsburgh area later this week. BBF has provided pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for hand-carry mission trips to Haiti by 5 separate medical mission teams.

BBF expects to ship more than 25 ocean-going container loads of pharmaceuticals (240,000 bottle/tubes of antibiotics, pain relievers and other medicine) and other needed relief supplies, including hygiene kits and 50,000 pairs of new shoes, through mid-March. The value of these donations will exceed $27,000,000. Donors of these supplies include Mine Safety Appliances, Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Crocs Shoes and Bay Valley Foods. Over $17,000,000 of products were donated by companies headquartered in Pennsylvania.

BBF's Medical Director, Dr. Chip Lambert plans to return to Haiti in two weeks where he will continue to assist with relief effort.

BBF is receiving monetary donations to help with shipping costs. You can securely donate online at using a credit card or you can send a check payable to Brother's Brother Foundation.
