On November 15, 2017, BBF is loading a sea container of requested food and water and other supplies for the U.S. Virgin Islands from BBF’s Pittsburgh location between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00. BBF is working to distribute these requested donations to St. Croix via church representatives.
BBF is partnering with many local Pittsburgh groups with interest in the U.S. Virgin Islands as well as Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and local Blue Cross Blue Shield representatives to respond to the devastation in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Since Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, BBF has provided or arranged the delivery of eight ocean-going container loads of humanitarian supplies for St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, 19 ocean-going container loads of food, water and humanitarian supplies to Puerto Rico, 11 tractor-trailer loads of air lifted medical supplies to Puerto Rico and smaller medical shipments by air to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
BBF has also provided or arranged delivery for 29 tractor trailer loads of humanitarian relief and medical supplies to the people in Texas and Florida after hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
BBF President, Luke Hingson reminds all, “BBF has a policy during disasters that clearly states 100% of disaster funds go toe help people in the disaster area.”
