Used Book Policy
-Started in 1961 at the suggestion of Victoria Tolbert, wife of William R. Tolbert Vice President of Liberia.
-1962 – First collection of 100,000 school texts sent to Liberia, West Africa at the expense of the U.S. government by special order of President John F. Kennedy.
-1962 – 1980 Collected and distributed almost 1,000,000 requested texts to students in Liberia, Turkey, Ghana, etc. (over 90% provided by school districts).
-1981 - 2000 Distributed over 43,000,000 school books to students in 70 countries
(over 90 % of texts provided by publishers).
-2001 - 2012 Distributed over 50,725,900 requested texts to students in 91 countries
(over 90 % of texts provided by publishers)

BBF, a 55-year old Pittsburgh-based international charity, has provided over $4 billion of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 146 countries. With the help of gifts from the general public, corporations and the US government, in 2011 BBF sent product contributions to those in need in 65 countries and furnished supplies for 270 medical and humanitarian hand-carry mission trips.
Forbes Magazine, the national business periodical, ranked Brother's
Brother Foundation tied for first as the most efficient charities in its online ranking of the 200 largest U.S. charities. This list rates charities on how efficiently they collect and distribute
donations.
Brother's Brother Foundation received 100 % or higher rating in charitable commitment, and fundraising efficiency.
