BROTHER’S BROTHER FOUNDATION RESPONDS WITH
FOUR TRACTOR TRAILER LOADS TO NEEDS FOLLOWING HURRICANE SANDY
November 1, 2012

Brother's Brother Foundation (BBF) is helping to send four tractor trailer load of assistance to those in need due to Hurricane Sandy.  BBF is working with Gleaning For The World (GFTW) which is ready to be on the scene as soon as it is safe to be there.  GFTW has packed and sent out trucks to arrive tomorrow , November 1st, to aid in the relief efforts in the New York City (Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the East Village in Manhattan).   In response to the overwhelming damage, GFTW has sent non-perishables, water and blankets to be distributed.  BBF is requesting only financial support (no clothing or food) to send additional emergency aid as quickly as possible.  BBF, working with GFTW, has sent 28 tractor trailer loads of requested donations following weather-related disasters in the United States during the last year.

BBF, a 56-year old Pittsburgh-based international charity, has provided over
$4 billion of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 140 countries.  With the help of gifts from the general public, corporations and foundations, in 2013 BBF sent product contributions to those in need in 64 countries including Burundi, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Liberia, Nicaragua, Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Zambia.  These shipments were the equivalent of 252 tractor trailer loads.  Also in 2013, BBF provided supplies for 321 medical and humanitarian
hand-carry mission trips.

Forbes Magazine highlighted BBF as one of only three charities with a 100% rating for both fundraising efficiency and charitable commitment, November 2013. The Better Business Bureau continues to give BBF its “Wise Giving Alliance Standards” seal of approval.
