BROTHER'S BROTHER FOUNDATION SENDS SHIPMENTS #16 - #21 ON MARCH 3, 4 and 5 of REQUESTED RELIEF SUPPLIES to HAITI

  Brother's Brother Foundation (BBF) is responding with partner agencies Food For The Poor of Miami, Medical Benevolence Foundation of Houston and Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010.

To date BBF has made four air shipments and 15 tractor trailer (ocean-going container) shipments of pharmaceuticals and relief supplies. The 16 th tractor trailer will load on Wednesday, March 3 rd at 9:00 am with pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. Shipments #17 and #18 are scheduled to load at 9:00 am and 11:00 am on Thursday, March 4 th with requested hygiene supplies and donated clothing from Eat'n Park Hospitality, Inc. Three container-loads of baby food donated by Bay Valley Foods will leave the Pittsburgh area on Friday, March 5 th . BBF has provided pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for hand-carry mission trips to Haiti by 5 separate medical mission teams.

BBF expects to ship more than 25 ocean-going container loads of pharmaceuticals (240,000 bottle/tubes of antibiotics, pain relievers and other medicine) and other needed relief supplies, including hygiene kits and 50,000 pairs of new shoes and clothing, through mid-March. The value of these donations will exceed $27,000,000. Donors of these supplies include Mine Safety Appliances, Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Crocs Shoes, Bay Valley Foods and Eat'n Park. Over $17,000,000 of products were donated by companies headquartered in Pennsylvania.

BBF's Medical Director, Dr. Chip Lambert, plans to return to Haiti in March or April where he will continue to assist with relief effort.

BBF, a 54-year old Pittsburgh-based international charity, has provided over $4 billion of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 140 countries. With the help of gifts from the general public, corporations and the US government, in the first six months of 2011 BBF sent product contributions to those in need in 54 countries. In the same period of 2011, BBF furnished supplies for 142 medical and humanitarian hand-carry mission trips.

Forbes Magazine, the national business periodical, ranked Brother's Brother Foundation tied for first as the most efficient charities in its online ranking of the 200 largest U.S. charities. This list rates charities on how efficiently they collect and distribute donations.
Brother's Brother Foundation received 100 % or higher rating in charitable commitment, donor dependency and fundraising efficiency.
